Wireless Troubleshooting

I just bought a laptop and I need to know how to set up wireless internet; help?

I have a HP pavillion [windows 7] and I also have the wireless antenna I need to know how to set up a wireless network for my laptop. I do have a router its the antenna I was talkin' about... Atleast when I bought the computer thats what it was called.

1. First you will need to buy a wireless router to hook to your internet then follow the easy setup instructions provided.
2. The first thing you need is a wireless router in the building to connect to the internet with. Assuming that you have that you will need to search for available networks, find your network SSID and click connect. If the channel is encrypted then you will be required to enter a WEP/WPA key. You should also check to see if the router is using MAC filtering, if it is the router will only allow machines that it "recognises" onto the network even if you have the correct WPA/WEP key. Use the ipconfig tool from a command prompt window (ipconfig /all) and find the MAC Address of your laptop and add it to the allowed list.
