help plz i have a netgear wireless g router and my download speed is 250 kps and 350 upload i have a 8mb pac?

kage from bt . bt told me all i wud ever get is 250kps and i live about 3 mile away from the exchange if i change to a wireless n will this improve my connection and speed plz answer
