Wireless Troubleshooting

Wireless mouse does not work on installation?

Purchased a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical 3000 mouse off of E-Bay (opened package). Troubleshooting says the receiver should flash a green light when a small button on the bottom of the receiver would be pressed. Does not happen. Driver for wired Microsoft Optical 3000 mouse uninstalled and wired mouse disconnected before reboot. Troubleshooting says when receiver will then be connected the computer will recognize new hardware and download correct driver. Does not happen. Old mouse works fine. Any ideas besides the receiver would be faulty?

  1. If Windows does not recognize the mouse as new hardware when you plug the receiver into the USB port, then the receiver is not communicating with the computer. Since the green light on the receiver is not flashing when you press the button on the mouse, this also indicates a receiver problem Sounds like the receiver is dead.
