Wireless Troubleshooting

How can I setup my wireless printing?

I really need to setup wireless printing so I can use the printer that is connected on my desktop on my laptop.... The router is connected to my desktop too, and I use the internet wirelessly fine on the laptop. I never used the Windows network setup, I just manually searched for the connection and put in my security details. For setting up wireless printing, I created a wirless network on my desktop (well one already existed, I'd probably made it in the past), saved the settings on USB, then put them on my laptop, and put USB back in desktop as it told me. It then said I had successfully added my laptop. Sharing was ticked on the printer on my desktop, but when I search for a network printer on my laptop it won't find it! Any ideas?

  1. just try printing a doc to the printer to see it prints....if not try deleting the network and redoing or reboot your laptop...it could just need a reboot.
  2. I suggest you do two things, first check that the printer is enabled for sharing and secondly use the network wizard to set up your network.
  3. i'm not 100% sure but i think you may have to ensure the software for the printer is uploaded as well. if all else fails either use the network wizard or call microsoft for help. hope some of it helps
  4. Yep, you're almost there ! You need to install the printer on your laptop before windows will find it, drivers and software.
